Sheridan Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 Bit of a 365 noob question here, as we use GSuite, but we have a A1 Plus faculty domain (mainly because we have OVS and this allows office apps downloads at home) but it isn't used for email etc. Its not synched with AD or anything, yet we have a dozen or so users who have accounts in there (using the GSuite domain email address) My question is, how have users managed to create their accounts? I can't see how they can create their logins, and I'm the only admin!
Boredguy Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 There is a self signup option with A1 Plus that might explain it.
Sheridan Posted January 14, 2019 Author Posted January 14, 2019 Is that something that is enabled by default? Ideally I don't want it enabled just yet
robyholmes Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 I think these are what Microsoft referrers to as 'Contacts'. Its a user which has access the a document or part of your Office 365 tenancy which required them to sign in (No to Office 365 but with a Microsoft account). For example if you share a file with [email protected] and tick the 'Authenticated' option, that person must sign in using their Microsoft account to access your file. They are added to your 'Users' list so the system can track them for audit logs etc.
Boredguy Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 When A1 Plus first came out, existing tenancy's had to enable it to get the licences provisioned. I would expect that new tenancy's had that enabled by default. Any reason for not setting up the Azure Sync currently. You can then at least limit your users to only getting the specific parts of the licence you will want to use eventually (such as disabling Exchange so they don't try and send e-mails and wonder why they don't get a reply!)
Sheridan Posted January 14, 2019 Author Posted January 14, 2019 It looks like they've been signing up through this email activation method: https://products.office.com/en-gb/student/office-in-education That gives them OneDrive and sharepoint by default. I didn't want them signing up until I'd had a chance to properly sort the 365 domain, as its only really been setup recently - everyone should be using GSuite which is AD synched. It doesn't look like I can disable the self sign up option anywhere either.
Sheridan Posted January 14, 2019 Author Posted January 14, 2019 Found it - powershell to disable self sign in: Set-MsolCompanySettings -AllowEmailVerifiedUsers $false Now I just need to find why my OVS O365 ProPlus for Faculty isn't showing up in the O365 domain (its showing as A1 Plus) as this was the whole reason I set this up, so staff and students could download Office at home via our OVS agreement.
Boredguy Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 A1 Plus is automatically provided if your domain is an educational one, and nothing to do with your OVS agreement (that's normally just A1) To link your ProPlus, login to the MS Volume Licence Centre, and you should have a link in there to activate your provision with your 365 Tenancy

Where do you find it, or it is something that you have to contact MS to add?
Boredguy Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 There should be an Online Service Activation Tab, which would contain your licence ID and number of orders pending 1
Sheridan Posted January 14, 2019 Author Posted January 14, 2019 Ah cheers found it now - it wasn't there when I set this up a few months ago, but its now appeared on the second page, I just an error when trying to activate so time to contact MS I guess!
