WSUS not working for some Windows 10 Clients

Hi there,

And so the saga of things on Windows 10 not working continues....

 

I have a large number of Windows 10 computers which continue to display an icon in the taskbar which when hovered over says: 'Your device is missing important updates. Select this icon for more info'. If you select the icon, it takes you here:

 

If I check for updates, none are found.

I have ensured WSUS has fully downloaded all unapproved updates, which is has done.

Last week, I even completely removed WSUS as a server role, cleared all folders relating to it (as the folders had filled both hard drives on the server), reinstalled the role and re-configured, and still this is happening.

 

The computer in question is Windows 10 1803 and the Group Policy on our Server 2012 is set to do the following for any device on the network...

 

In addition to Windows 10 on Wsus, the following are also all ticked for WSUS download:

 

Really running out of ideas and patience. Running Windows 10 as a vanilla OS is becoming more and more problematic and frustrating. Nothing seems to work like it would on Windows 7. Getting so fed up with it.

Thank you, I have used these details to help customise my GPO a little better. I have a question...

 

Yours has 'Enable client-side targeting'. You have RMS set as Target group name for this computer.

 

What does this area do? I have never used this before. I am assuming it is some sort of a grouping for the computers in question?

Yes it's just an area in the WSUS console to store all the computers when they report in.

Ok, thank you. Makes sense.

 

I have GPUPDATED the computers a good few times, and if I go to Windows updates, can see this update, however, it is not progressing past 0%, so something is still not right.

Looking at the screen shot the update you were having issues with is the 1809 Feature update. I have had that fail on all my PC's as well !

I have done and I get "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem". If I look at advanced issues, 'Issues not present' are shown for every issue listed. The system has plenty of free C:\ space.

Yes that is the one. It is just an absolute nightmare. Doesn't look like any of the systems have installed it.

For standalone users, Windows 10 is great, but I am finding to manage on a network, it is the worst yet. Nothing works correctly, I am getting problem after problem with it. Really disappointing.
