Windows 10 Vanilla Disable UAC for Sound Prompt

Hi there,

 

I have a school running server 2012 vanilla with Windows 10 clients.

I am finding that if users plug in a pair of headphones or unplug and re-plug in their speakers, the computer is showing a UAC screen but with a username and password box. It is expecting an administrator username and password.

 

Can anyone best advise me on how to overcome this.

The school want me to give them the administrator password, which I am not prepared to do for obvious reasons.

They are also getting a volume icon with a red cross over it occasionally on the task bar. If you click on it, it tries to repair the audio but again, comes up with a UAC box for users to authenticate with.

Just off the top of my head (it's still early & I have a headache) it sounds like it might be the Realtek driver software trying to run. I'm sure there is a policy to allow certain software to always run as admin so you could try there. I can't think of anything else to do with audio that might require elevation Edited November 16, 2018 by ComboSmith
