Ok....this is driving me mad! I have a home Windows Server network with a few workstations, and my domain controller keeps shutting itself down automatically every half hour. Anyone know what's going on and a fix?

It is going through the Windows shutdown process.

Is it server essentials? If it is, does it hold all of the FSMO foles?

I seem to remember that older windows versions shut down if you overrun the trial period too (check to see if your server has properly activated), but not sure if this still exists in 2012 or later.

Sounds very much like an expired/corrupted activation to me. I believe it's 30 days, unless you install the evaluation copy, which is 180 days.
