Adding distribution groups to an Address Book Policy

We use Azure ADConnect to sync users and group to o365. I've recently added the students so created an address book policy for staff so they can't see each other in the address list. This has worked well, except the distribution groups aren't visible. Users were added to the address book policy based on group membership. Any idea how I can make the distribution groups part of the address book policy or visible to staff?
