gollops Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 We are contempating digitaly archiving papers and articles currently stored in our library, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of doing the same and had any advice, as we know nothing!
browolf Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 better photocopiers can scan straight into pdf files and send them to a network location, or email them. I imagine turning the whole lot into pdf would be easiest. not sure what kind of software u might use for presenting the archive, maybe some kind of webbased thing. wonder if there's anything existing for this kind of thing.
plexer Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Something like alfresco maybe, trouble with just scanning them on photocopier straight to network is you then also need to add them to the archive system and set the document meta data as well. Pdf probably best format though. Ben
plexer Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Do you have a vle of anysort this might be used to store the stuff, sharepoint and documents works well. Ben
Ric_ Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 INVU, one of our advertisers makes a very competitively priced system for just this job.
