jmak Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 I've just installed Lineage 15.1 on my OnePlus 2. Everything is working apart from Android Auto which won't start with the error message: "Something Went Wrong - Google Play Services doesn't seem to be working right now" All other Google apps are working so I'm trying to work out whether it's a red herring. I was wondering about installing a different version of Google Play Services from APK mirror, but I'm unsure of the update process. Do you just download the file and install it out do you have to uninstall the old version first? I was previously running a different Android 8.1 ROM, and Android Auto ran fine, but the phone kept overheating and shutting down when using GPS.
Arthur Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 I've just installed Lineage 15.1 on my OnePlus 2. Did you install OpenGApps before booting into LineageOS? If not, that could be why Google Play Services isn't working properly. https://wiki.lineageos.org/gapps.html Google apps should be installed via recovery immediately after installing LineageOS. Exact steps vary, but the process is similar to that of installing LineageOS: IMPORTANT: If you reboot into LineageOS before installing Google apps, you must factory reset and then install them, otherwise expect crashes. Copy the Google apps zipfile to /sdcard/ Using adb: adb push filename.zip /sdcard/ After installing LineageOS, choose “install zip” or “Apply update” in recovery, and navigate to the zipfile loaded earlier. Reboot to system (i.e. LineageOS). 1
jmak Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 Yes. I used TWRP and they installed automatically in sequence without rebooting.
