Just had to install this software called Goldmine on the network, does targets, percentages etc but in order to display PDFs it loads \ unloads a temp device driver - which wants admin rights

 

Think I may have got around it with adding a group of users to Power Users group then assigning the "Load & Unload device drivers" right, what a bloody pain though when will they learn

 

Still not an ideal solution granting those extra rights but better than all out local admin access I guess...

I know how you feel, Testbase is also awful. They've obviously never heard of MSIs. It's very frustrating. You also have to enter about 5 pieces of registration information/codes which is ridiculous!

I concur, Testbase is a bl00dy awful piece of software (from an tech/admn POV anyway!)

 

Too bad the staff here seem to love it, or I'd chuck it out

For everyone's reference, the only shortcut I have found when installing Testbase on each machine; firstly install Testbase on one workstation, then navigate to C:\Windows and copy exampro32.ini

 

Before installing Testbase on a new workstation, copy this file into C:\Windows. When installing the modules it's just a case of clicking Next > Next > Next > as all license information is populated

Just loaded up a Folens CD-ROM and couldn't work out how to get teh menu to work, Big colourful icons that just won't be clicked on. In a fit of rage clicked random buttons and found actually the images are just a carousel, you have to click a left or right arrow to bring the selection to the front and then click GO to launch that menu option. I then looked again at a previous menu and found a whole 3 more books I didn't realise where there because of this menu system!

Checked with someone else who got just as confused. Why create custom, non-intuitive interfaces!!
