Strange DHCP issue

Hi All

 

we have Cisco 10GB Sg500 network,

 

it has been working fine for 4 years + , no big issues,

 

Recently and this has happened 3 times since September, we have come in to find that DHCP is not forwarding through the core switch, it is quickly fixed with a reboot of the core switch.

 

As explained it worked fine for 4 years +, so am guessing it must be a recent change

 

Could this be caused by another switch trying to advertise as root , we also recently had a dark fibre connection put in, could this be causing it

 

any help would be nice

We have SG300's here which are similar and haven't seen any issues in over 6 years.

What firmware are you on?

Have you used the Cisco monitoring application (can't remember what it's called) to look at logs and errors.

Could it be a loopback or faulty network card?

When you get the error does everything look ok on the DHCP server, including logs?

When this happens do devices that have an IP function ok?

any device that already has a ip address continues to function
