New Windows 10 Cumulative Updates (20th Sept.). Lots of bugs fixed!!!

The changelogs are massive (especially for v1803)! I have highlighted some of the notable fixes below.

Earlier this week, Microsoft released a round of cumulative updates, which arrived just six days after Patch Tuesday. Here we are just four days later, and four different versions of Windows 10 are once again getting new updates.

 

You might recall that this week's updates and the Patch Tuesday updates didn't really include a lot of improvements. They were mostly just security fixes. If you were wondering where the long changelogs were, they're here now.

About time they sorted that Settings Page Visibility GPO, does that mean there should be a new ADMX released as well?

In the interim period we could use GPP to set the registry value.

Another option would be to copy the updated ControlPanel.admx & .adml from the local PolicyDefinitions folder to your central store. I haven't tried this myself, but it should work in theory.

Not sure, but the reason it wasn't showing up before was because Microsoft pulled the update. It has now been re-issued...

The settings page visibility thing is already available under Computer Config (on 1803, at least)--bit of a PITA when it locks it all out for an admin, too, and you end up having to apply a temporary GPO to undo it if you need to change something, but it's better than nothing if you need to lock down users now, anyway

Oh, I know. Haven't applied Settings Page Visibility at computer level for that reason, it would interfere with maintenance and testing.

 

It's not highest priority, just been nice to finally patch that hole. The whole Settings app is blocked for students, it'd just be nice to be a bit more granular for staff.
