ChrisH Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 We have a college asking about if we had any SEN provision for an ex pupil who is due to start with them. Where do we stand with this, would we need consent from the ex pupil to share this information given it is an adult college course and not a normal school age scenario where we would be covered by something like public task?
FN-GM Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 I would have thought this is required under legislation? https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2004/31/contents https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2004/31/section/10 1
ChrisH Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 (edited) Edited: So from a brief scan of that it looks like business as normal 18-19, and up to 25 in special cases such as statement/EHCP? Edited September 17, 2018 by ChrisH
FN-GM Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 I do believe this is the case. Although I wouldn't bet my life on it!
forkies Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 We ask for ex students to come in and sign a form explicitly stating the college requesting the information authorising us to share it with them. 1
ChrisH Posted September 18, 2018 Author Posted September 18, 2018 Thanks everyone, it turned out they had consented to information sharing on their College enrolment form, I may look at getting something signed on our end for the future.

Careful. The person giving the college consent to share information is not the same thing as the person giving you consent to share information with the college. 1
