Our borders use thin clients and terminal services for internet access in their rooms. I'm looking for a piece of software that can monitor what they get up to on the internet.

Is there anything that will do this, preferably a software service that runs in the background or something.

I've been looking at webspy sentinal software but dont seem to be able to download their trial.

Actually capturing pages or just logging traffic?

Any of the proxy servers constantly mentioned on here should be able to log web traffic

Just monitoring traffic but we already have a hardware proxy that blocks and monitors to a log file. The problem is I'm spending hours looking through long log files to find just 20 of our boarders who need special attention.

I was hoping there would be a software service that runs on the terminal server and logs http traffic, times, usernames ect.

Looking at a different proxy would still be my first solution - I've just installed smoothwall network guardian and the logging is fantastic, drilling down to per user is simple, and can even set it to email a daily or weekly report on the suspects you have.

Failing that, what format is the log file in? maybe a clever person could make a script or something to cut unneccesary data?

Yes I agree entirely, smoothwall is really very good at what it does.

I have noticed there are some termnal server settings tab on my AB tutor. AB tutor allows you to log applications and web sites visited for each machine. Not sure how well it works in practice for a terminal server setup but a single licence for the control software (as many clients as you want) would only set you back about £150 or something like that. If you buy more they drop to £100 ish.
