Millsy79 Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 How do you change the default search engine in edge from Bing to Google using gpo. I have tried pointing to an opensearch.xml file but it doesn't seem to work. I have attached the xml file. I have put the xml on a server and then pointed the gpo to the file.
Arthur Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 (edited) The contents of your XML file don't look quite right. Try the XML file attached (originally from this thread). Edit. Google also has an OpenSearch XML file you can use instead of your own at the URL below. https://www.google.com/searchdomaincheck?format=opensearch Google Search (for Edge).zip Edited September 12, 2018 by Arthur
Alis_Klar Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Does anyone know how to make swiggle http://swiggle.org.uk the default browser in Edge? They have a bookmarklet type extension for Edge so I guess someone could adapt the js to make a opensearch compliant XML file or even SWGfL could have hosted the XML somewhere like google do. Couln't find anything on their website. Perhaps the other option is for Swiggle/SWGfL to have a Microsoft Store app to install an extension in Edge. EDIT:Just did a search on Edugeek for swiggle and got hardly any info. Guess its not popular! It does ruin the google experince quite a bit and our Exa filtering is pretty good with TLS interception so perhaps I should just allow the kids to use Google (we are a Primary School)?!?
Arthur Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Couldn't find anything on their website. Swiggle have an OpenSearch XML file you could point the default search engine GPO to. https://swiggle.org.uk/opensearch.xml 1
Alis_Klar Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Thanks @Arthur ! Is that published on their website?
Arthur Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 I found it by looking at the source for swiggle.org.uk. 1
