Just had a quick look. Would I have to do it manually for every version of Java?

Unfortunately yes. [emoji852]️

I only have one Windows computer in the entire school with Java so haven't spent any time trying to automate the updates with SCUP and SCCM.

Perhaps @free780 or @sparkeh know of a solution that doesn't involve subscribing to a third-party patch management product like PatchMyPC or Ivanti Patch?

We don't deploy Java anymore but when we did I created a new package for each update.

I never really found a decent solution for updating that didn't involve a third party patch manager.

That's what I do too (although with a PSADT-based Application rather than a Package).

@FN-GM. Make sure you don't deploy Java 8 after January 2019 for the legacy application at the LA school.

Public updates for Oracle Java SE 8 released after January 2019 will not be available for business, commercial or production use without a commercial license.

Alas no. I usually just create an application via powershell with the updated version. One day I write a blog post on this. Hopefully within 2 years we won't need to deploy legacy browser plugins.
