I am trying to set up a load of android phones and need to install apps over the air. Is there an equivilent service from google like VPP and DEP?

 

I have an MDM solution but it still wants the user to sign in the play store rather than just install silently.

Google Play for Education was closed.

 

https://support.google.com/a/answer/7507210?hl=en&ref_topic=7507003 implies you can auto install apps though. So in theory workflow would be: sign into wifi, then school account, which prompts Device Policy to install, and then assigned apps should install automatically.

There's https://www.android.com/enterprise/management/zero-touch/ at the high end, preconfigured to be signed into your system when you buy them

 

https://www.android.com/intl/en_uk/enterprise/management/ has more options, nfc, emm token, qr code, but looks like Google Mobile Management, the free default EMM, doesn't support them
