Apparently the UK version of the X2 is going to launched in October. The same month Google's new Pixelbooks (Nocturne and Atlas) are due to be released. These should also be able to dual boot Windows 10).

I get 5 chromebooks including 5 google licences for the price of that one, and I'd still have £50 spare to spend on something fun. Detatching the keyboard is not worth +£650

Agreed. At £800 each, I really can't see this making too much of a dent in the education market. At that pricepoint, it's actually insulting that HP have the sheer audacity to ask for an extra £42 to add a 3 year RTB warranty. If I'm paying £800 for a glorified Chromebook, I'd be expecting at least a 3 year onsite warranty thrown in to the deal for starters.

Detaching the keyboard is not worth +£650

On the HP US Store there's a 4GB/32GB Core m3-7Y30 model which would cost the equivalent of £456 + VAT. That's a bit more reasonable (although 64GB storage would be better).
