google 2fa issue

I assume someone else uses google 2fa. its works fine most of the time providing my phone has a signal but the backup option where it tells you to go to sign in and security and get a code just dosent seem to exist. that option wasnt on my last phone (nexus 5x so as vanilla as they come) my current phone (nokia 6.1 so pretty vanilla) or my chromebook. so how am i supposed to use this backup feature?

Open the Settings app Tap Google

Tap Sign-in & security

Tap Security code

Choose an account to get your code

 

but the bolded menus / options dont exist
