Chromebooks with 2GB RAM anyone buy them?

We normally purchase our chromebooks with 4GB ram in to cope a bit more.

 

We are pushing out a kind of 1:1 scheme with sixth form and have seen some for £99 with 2GB RAM. Would you steer clear of these? They will only be used by one student not shared. Is anyone happily using 2GB chromebooks?

 

They will mostly just be using internet, google classroom and google docs.

2GB should be fine tbh it depends on the CPU too as long as they don't have lots of tabs open they should be able to handle it alright, £99 is pretty cheap so I can't imagine the build quality to be good. Edited July 16, 2018 by ShellfishClive

With 2GB RAM you would lose 200MB-260MB straight away due to Google recently enabling site isolation by default.

The first run of Chromebooks we bought only have dual core Celerons and 2GB of RAM in them. About five or six years old now. Still running great.

I guess the easiest way to find out is either buy one and test it or ask your supplier for a demo one and play around with it. At that price though, I wouldn't expect too much from it.
