Publishing Exam results

How are schools going to organise publishing exam results this summer? If you list the name of students with their associated grades etc, do you need their permission before you post?

To clarify, and your school’s DSL should be on top of this, good Safeguarding practice is never to identify students at the school using their full names on the school website, the newsletter or in publicity such as the local paper or social media.

 

On the few occasions where it is done, it should be with the full and specific permission of the the child’s parents.

 

If the local paper is at the school taking photos of the kids on results day, make families aware and give them the option to avoid it. Generally, our local papers are pretty good about no names now. They have had Safeguarding drummed into them by all the schools, but there’s always a newbie hack that doesn’t know so the school should be laying out the ground rules on arrival.

 

Where a particular student is to be boasted about for their Oxbridge success or whatever then you need their (parents) permission in writing.
