My220x Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I am new to programming and was thinking about learning Java or C++. Which one would you reccomend and why? If you don't think I should learn one of them please say why and suggest a good one. Thanks.
kmount Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Depends what you're after really... I found C a difficult language to pick up whereas Java albeit somewhat derived from C a lot easier to work out.

You'd be better off programming for the web if you wanted to develop.

If you want to learn something that follows the same syntax but a bit more cutting edge, look at c# or any .NET language. Either that or something like Ruby on Rails or AJAX, etc.
localzuk Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Actually, J2EE is a high demand skill, commanding large amounts of pay also. So I'd say either Java or C#.
