PHP Developer (MySQL, HTML, CSS3, JavaScript, VB6) – SW. London

up to £40,000 depending on experience (plus benefits)

Full time – permanent position

Our client, a prestigious independent school with over 1,000 pupils require an experienced PHP Developer to join their established IT team and take full responsibility for all programming issues related to the school’s IT systems including in-house software, providing support to the users and managing the administration of the school’s MIS databases.

 

 

Main Roles and responsibilities:

 

  • To maintain and support existing in-house applications and scripts.
  • To interpret user requirements, provide recommendations and document proposed solutions.
  • To develop and implement updates to the school’s applications as recommended by staff and the Digital Strategy Group.
  • Write server and client side code for web applications and efficient code for background processing.
  • Use development experience to contribute to team decisions and the design of solutions.
  • To oversee the use and the mechanics of the MIS database used by the school.
  • Support staff in use of the schools MIS system and to deal with support calls raised either by phone, email or through the ticketing system.
  • To document usage, issues and events to provide an audit trail of the system, including any 3rd party companies that are involved.
  • Be involved with any project where there is integration with any of the databases, with the authority to veto any database use if required.
  • Keep up to date with new technologies and development practices.

 

 

To be short-listed for an interview, you must have some or all of the following:

 

  • Development experience in a similar role
  • PHP – Object Orientated NOT Framework
  • MSSQL and MySQL
  • HTML5 and CSS3
  • JavaScript / JQuery
  • VB Script / VB6

 

 

The following experience is also highly desirable:

 

  • CMS plugin (Drupal and Firefly)
  • SVN or GIT version control
  • .NET
  • Powershell
  • Experience of data integration between separate products
  • Experience of SchoolBase, Razor’s Edge, Chris21 or similar
