Moving from redirected APPDATA

HI, i think this has been discussed before and apologies if so. If you can point me to the right place in that case, i will be happy.

I have redirected APPDATA on win 10 environment with 2012r2 and i would like to send ths back local. The reason i want to test this is twofold. I have headteacher and a few others on VPN with pretty poor internet at their houses which struggle and im guessing that hanging office apps, etc. are mainly to do with this redirected APPDATA?

Secondly, graphics kids roaming folders are getting massive along with may other students using adobe CC etc., and im guessing that moving this back to local would help. The teachers for graphics have loved the fact that after crashes, they can pick up where they left off on another PC but i think i need to start limiting space.

 

My main query is how i can test and migrate this slowly as i can clone the policy STAFF SETTINGS to STAFF SETTINGS (NO APPDATA REDIRECTED) or somesuch, and i can apply security filtering on who i want to get this but this way does not give me the option to move the roaming folder back to local on first logon. I'm not even sure i want this to happen so open to suggestions but the other issue is removing a single user or group from the the original STAFF SETTINGS GPO as this is the one that is still redirecting APPDATA. I'm not sure which one would take precedence if i didn't remove the user or group from the original GPO if you catch my drift.

 

I think you may get loosely my reasons and obstacles to testing and if you could comment on any of this, that would be helpful i'm sure. main issue being headteacher cannot open office docs over vpn.... and when open, hang intermittently for 5+ mins! !%00 pound SSD HP laptop- new.
