Server not updating

Hi,

 

Have a Server 2016 VM that I can't get to update. It downloads ok but then sits at install for ages before giving me an error. Upon Googling this error it appears there may be an issue with a Windows Defender update. I've downloaded the Windows Defender update manually and that doesn't install.

 

Any ideas?

Create a new local user on the server and put it in the Administrators group, log on with the new account and then try Windows Updates etc.

I've found that one of my 2016 servers won't install updates via the settings app, but if you run sconfig from a command prompt and do the update there, the failures magically disappear...
