It's a registry entry. Unless you have a always on VPN or intune etc you can't push out the registry key. I'm assuming you own the laptops and standard users. Reg key requires admin privileges.

 

reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\CredSSP\Parameters" /f /v AllowEncryptionOracle /t REG_DWORD /d 2

I took a gamble on getting the machines to WSUS last night rather than Friday night and it looks like it might've of paid off

I felt the same. What do I need to do to get RDP working again for remote users who connect through our RD Gateway?

 

Run the patch. If you ignore the KB numbers and follow the link to the MS catalogue site you need to find your OS and download and install

 

Note that you need to reboot too.
