abillybob Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Hello All Hoping you can help because this is becoming a nightmare and I don't know what else to try. We have a building off site which has only 4 Ethernet ports to connect to our internal network on. Currently all those Ethernet ports are in use and we can't utilise them. There is a workstation connected to a HP PageWide Pro MFP 477dw via a USB cable and is shared over the network. We use terminal servers here so the terminal server is connected by adding the shared USB printer to it so $MemberOfStaff can print directly from the terminal server. When I first started here it was having problems and wouldn't print at all. Deleting the driver and printer from the machine and adding it back alleviated some of the issues but they kept coming back. I have since tried all the basic troubleshooting stuff and eventually decided to re-image the computer completely. It has been fine for around a month but has since started experiencing issues again (nothing has changed either). You can still print to it but if you ask Word for example to print off more than 1 copy of a document it will only print one copy and then the printer itself will cancel the rest of the job automatically. I can't get my head round to understanding why on Earth this is happening? Although if your print directly from the Workstation it's connected to via USB it will print all the copies with no problem!! Any help would be most appreciated!
bossman Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 @abillybob With it being a HP device I would be looking at the properties/Device settings and seeing if the "Mopier Mode" is set to enabled.....if it is then set it to disabled... Also if it doesn't have a hard drive on the device check to see if this too is "Installed" if it doesn't have a HDD then set it to Not Installed.... https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/PageWide-Pro-Will-not-Print-More-than-One-Copy/td-p/6046625 Hope this helps... P.S. any chance of a loan from your £500,000 budget....hehe!
sted Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 iirc if you are using a non server version of windows on the pc with the printer attached theres a limit to how many sessions/logins you can use to shared files/printers i suspect rebooting this pc would also cure it but a better solution might be getting a cheap network print share device and a 4 port switch (as you have no spare network sockets)
abillybob Posted May 3, 2018 Author Posted May 3, 2018 Cheers all tried these but still the same problem? I've noticed that on print queue even when print jobs have successfully printed the job doesn't leave the print queue and still says printing you also can't delete it either and no matter how many times you restart the spooler it will just reprint the same document over and over?
bossman Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 @abillybob I know it seems silly but have you hard reset the printer? We have timers on all our printers which shut them down of an evening and start them back up of a morning before the PC's WOL, all part of our green power usage schedule.... We find that it helps our printers refresh and we have very few problems with our printers which are all HP....

I've installed a different model in it's place which is now working wonders so fingers crossed it stays that way 1
