GoTeachJobs Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Hi, I'm a school governor and a few conversations on a Facebook group centered around the need for a website where schools could post jobs for free. From this I've set up Welcome to Go Teach Jobs | Go Teach Jobs - a simple site that can be used and then developed from the feedback of those using it. Please do spread the word as the more it's used the better it will be and the more it will be able to help educational establishments and those looking for roles within them. Thanks, Stuart.

Steve21 Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 I'd also highly recommend all schools to stay away from a site that's saying it's going to artificially delay job postings unless payments are made: Will there be adverts? In short, yes. Hopefully this idea will work and aid schools and staff to get the positions they need filled, quickly, easily, and affordably. If so the GoTeachJobs website will have modest running costs. The intention is to be open about this and to cover these through options such as featured jobs, optional extras for job posts, reduced publishing time, and through some minimal adverts. Pretty poor attitude as a governor and "digital professional" when you know you could cover costs with adverts alone. Steve

The site is served over HTTPS as well HTTP, so you, or your HR manager etc, can access and use the registration page at: https://www.goteachjobs.co.uk/user/register/recruiter Thanks for pointing this out, really appreciated, I'll look into the hosting config to drop serving it over HTTP and so to use HTTPS only.
GoTeachJobs Posted April 23, 2018 Author Posted April 23, 2018 Hi Steve. Rest assured there's nothing artificial to it. I have a full time job and this is a free to use website. All posts need to be verified to avoid the site being misused by agencies and in general to avoid anyone putting anything silly up there. I can't guarantee being able to do this immediately and so to set a realistic expectation I've openly stated up to 5 days. I've also tried to be open about the need to cover the costs of this site. I genuinely want to help alleviate the situation faced by schools whilst at the same time I'm not in the position to self fund this, especially if it takes off, which I hope it does. I'll review the text on the site as I would imagine if this is how it come across to you then it will be the same for some others.
Steve21 Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 My point still stands though in regards to you're not saying it's a 5 day wait for everyone, if you're saying paying makes it quicker and you can fulfil that it's. It's not linked to jobs or hosting costs, and effectively you're prioristing paid adverts over free (or limiting the time it takes for free posts) Personally I feel the whole point to a free website to save schools money is a waste of time as soon as you're giving the option to spend on an advert to get "better" services as then it's basically back to the situation where they might as well use a normal big company to do it on e.g. Eteach etc If the sites self funding via adverts etc and gives schools a free place to advertise that's great but that's not how it sounds like you're trying to make it if I'm honest Steve

I don't know how it's going to turn out, and that includes how to fund it - I want to be open about the need to fund it and ultimately will be taking the lead from those using it. Perhaps it was error to list options on this front. The reason for suggesting there may be a paid option for quicker turnaround is that it may involve me paying someone to monitor the site. Again I don't know right now but I'm looking forward to putting every effort into making this work in hand with those willing to use it and provide feedback. Edited April 23, 2018 by GoTeachJobs
