Hi im going to go down the route of intune hybrid, however im a bit confused.. but do i need sccm to do this? the demos i have seen all have it, but im not sure why?

As far as I am aware yes you do. If the hybrid you are talking about is the same one I am thinking of it is meant to be a stepping stone from internal SCCM management to InTune. We have found this is mainly because InTune doesn't do everything we need it to do.

 

We have tried to fully use InTune and just found there were too many things were not able to do or control so we have gone Co-Habitation, domain machine linked with SCCM and controlled by SCCM on site, off site it links into InTune.

At the moment we dont have SCCM, we are using WDS an WSUS as seprate services, and deploy software via PDQ, mostly i want all the goodies from GPO's and windows 10 /ipad app management from Intune.

 

im trying not to give myself a ton of work setting up SCCM if i dont have to

I don't think there is a way to not have SCCM as you have to have a bridge between inside and outside and that is by linking SCCM and InTune. You may need to talk to a provider that has more experience though.
