Whilst on the lookout for a new project for the home I came across this vid on YouTube:

Dual Voodoo 2 in SLI for (almost) pennies! Yes please!

I had a Voodoo 2 back in the day as my first ever 3D card and it really was a WOW! moment and I recall seeing them on Ebay a bit back going for not much at all.

Fast forwards a couple of years (the vid was made in 2014) and it seems that the retro gaming fad has claimed another victim.

The Voodoo 2 cards I now see on Ebay are going for £60+ each :(

Pentium 2's and slot 1 motherboards are still affordable though, but I think I shall shelve this idea.

Instead I have my framed ZX Spectrum about to be finished to accompany my framed ZX81 and giving serious thought to getting an Nvidia 'early cards' display made up.

Thankfully cards like the NV1 (hard to find) Riva TNT, GeForce 256 and GeForce 2 are affordable and, for the most part, available.

Shame, I would have like to have made my '20 years ago' dream rig.

Don't know about putting up with Windows 98 again though.

I found my first real video card the other week. Geforce 4 MX 420. Not that old to a lot of you, but I was probably about twelve when I bought it and mowed the grass many, many times to get the money to buy it!

I found an old AGP GeForce FX5200 256MB in a box the other day.

They are going for £30+ on Ebay, either a lot of people have a lot of critical systems running on very old hardware or the retro gaming community is getting hardcore!

Think anyone will want a box running a Cyrix CPU?:D I'm sure i've still got that machine somewhere...

I've got one in my old house, which from day 1 always used to just randomly freeze up totally with a loud 'clicking' noise for several seconds, back then I didn't have a clue so thought it was just a crap PC (didn't impress my parents who had just spent £300-£500 on it for me!), now of course it was more than obviously the hard drive failing but I didn't know that as a young nipper! I then accidentally broke the clips off the RAM slots trying to upgrade that thinking it would help, I think we got it booting again by holding in the RAM via an elastic band. Oops!

My first PC was a Cyrix 233.

It was loathsome!

I've just remembered that I also have a Slot A Athlon 500 using a GFD overclocked to 750Mhz using a globalwin VOS32 (sounds like a jet plane) and a Geforce Ti4600 (sounds like a smaller aircraft)
