Ertech Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 (edited) Our Windows 7 pro devices started to get stuck at WELCOME screen - this happens occasionally on our domain (2012r2) - no changes were made to the network apart from applying windows updates. Anyone experienced this problem??? Thanks Edited March 8, 2018 by Ertech
Mark182 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 How long do you mean by 'forever'? What spec are the machines?
Ertech Posted March 8, 2018 Author Posted March 8, 2018 More thn 15min - HP i5, 256 ssd, 8GB ram. Not always but it appears to happen rarely - after hard restarting the PC it fixes it self...
FishCustard Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Check Event Viewer, do a boot trace with ProcessMonitor.
AlexB Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Also worth turning on the GPO I call "more useful boot messages". Comp Conf->Admin Temp->System->Display highly detailed status messages
Chockster Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 We had a few episodes of this the other week. Turned out someone had managed to install the amazon assistant onto a few machines. It was trying to talk to amazon before the PC had the proxy information and the user authenticated with smoothwall. May be worth having a look for toolbars and extensions.
