Very little downtime, cyber security protection and excellent quality of internet, but could others provide this for less?

Our JISC account manager reckons ours should be about 10k and that includes our 1gb Link which we pay about 6k for, but it’s going to be less for us (as a Sixth Form) than the big college/uni’s. We use Eduroam, Uk-Federation, Jisc Collections, supposed discounted SSL (basically no vat) oh and the closed off .ac.uk domain. The Jisc mailing lists especially Windows and security are great for me and my team. They also have peering directly into the big Cloud companies and access to over 300 private networks.....(never figured out that last bit!) , on the peering I’m not sure what difference it makes as one of our sponsored academies uses a commercial ISP and their Office365 speed seems comparable. I suppose all of the services above have a tangible cost and it’s wether these are sufficient to remain with JISC. If we’re looking at a 4K increase I think we could live with that for the comments you put and also the services we use quite heavily.

It appears you don’t need to be a JA.net user to have eduroam I asked it recently about adding it to our MAT for our sponsored academy and I got this back from JISC “ For educational institutions Janet connection/membership is not strictly mandatory. The service at the sixth form college could be extended out to the MATs under the umbrella of the colleges OR the MATs could join themselves directly. In the former case the database (AD) of the MATs would need to be accessible and reference by the colleges RADIUS servers.
