installing edugeek/joomla on OSX Tiger

I downloaded the zip package. As requested in step 1 of the Quick Install Guide, I replaced the files in /Library/WebServer/Documents on my hard drive (the default document root for the Apache webserver on Mac OSX Tiger) with the contents of the sites folder from the edugeek/joomla zipfile.

 

I went to the website and got a directory listing (this indicated it worked, because before doing this I got a page about Apache before I replaced the files). Nothing indicating pre-installation was showing. Are there other things I need to install before doing this installation? Is there a list of requirements that I couldn't find on your website? Are there any Mac OSX Tiger-specific installation instructions (although maybe after the first one, they should be the same - would be nice to have specific versions for different version of Mac OSX and Windows variations.

 

I did spend some time searching on this forum but came up empty.

It sounds like the web server isn't looking for the initial page. Is PHP operating correctly on the server?

 

The requirments are basically Apache, MySQl and PHP. There isn't a lot to go wrong.

I think it must be the PHP that's missing. I wish they had stated that somewhere on the Edugeek site - I took a look at the Joomla site and they specified the requirements. I'd bet that mySQL isn't there either.

Sorry for the confusion there jkmoch. I have added a note onto the wiki stating the basic requirements - somebody may want to expand these with version numbers.
