Once our Hikvision IP system was installed I took it upon my self to configure it all on a separate VLAN, secure passwords , and learn the system inside out.

Being on a VLAN only the Tech PCs have access by use of a different default gateway to do L3 routing.

Seems secure enough to me.

I suppose putting the CTV on a public facing connection with the default passwords is not a good idea.

The thing that secures most CCTV is the terrible software web plugins only working on an old version of IE after you've disabled most of the browser security, normal people can't get that to work
