techie1982 Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Hi All We have YouTube filtered for Years 7-11, Sixth form have access to it. What some Year 11's have discovered they are able to do is search for a video in Google (e.g. Ed Sheeran). Google will then return a YouTube video URL (e.g. ). They then use one of the many YouTube video download websites (e.g. https://www.converto.io/) to then copy the URL and download the video/mp3 to there user areas. Has anyone managed to stop this, if so how?
6Foot2 Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 File Server Resource Manager (FSRM) will prevent users from saving file types you nominate. With FSRM enabled if you specify that they cannot save MP3 files in their home folders, then they will not be able to do it.
techie1982 Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 Hmmm interesting not sure how this might impact on other lessons where they genuinely need to save mp3 files, music for example.
ITGuyWestMidlands Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Dont block them with FSRM but setup alerts to email and delete / caution as needed
snagrat Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Can’t you not block the video download sites? 1
