Does anyone use this resource at their schools?

I’ve been asked to look at getting a subscription and I’m not really sure what to make of the site, it’s not the most professional looking one I’ve ever seen.

Reading through the FAQ it says we need to upload student information from SIMS to create accounts.

There’s no privacy statement on the site as to how the data will be handled. We’ve contacted them and heard nothing back about this or GRPR.

My fact finding mission hasn’t gone down well with the teacher who has requested it but I don’t fancy sharing sensitive data with a company that can’t even spell VAT!

Doesn't look too good. Using UPNs as a primary key is dubious.

It's 2018 and they're using Flash too.

And although it's a couple of months away, with no information back regarding GDPR it's a write off in several ways. Time to say no IMO.

Seems to be a bit of a pattern with maths resource sites being some of the worst offenders for various reasons. MyMaths, Hegarty Maths, Method Maths...

Our Maths Dept have just signed up to Hegarty Maths. What's the issue with Hegarty Maths?

Likewise with MyMaths. Any view on Mathletics? I couldn't help but be amused by this statement in the Admin FAQ's for Method Maths.

"The UPN is crucial and must be unique for each student as this is the primary key and all work a student completes will be attached to this information. It does not have to be a real upn but it must be unique. We also advise not to use a upn with a leading zero as this can cause problems further down the line when you wish to make amendments."

This is just a hint of the challenges to come when tackling GDPR compliance with the some third parties!

True. It's amazing how many educational sites host videos on Vimeo now. Even the Govt Prevent course has videos hosted on Vimeo.

People often don't stop to think about their actions. "Free and Easy" appears to come on top of any list of priorities they have. I swear, people would happily host their educational videos on Pornhub if it was called anything else.

In .swf format.
