lmrogers Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 Evening, I am in the process of upgrading my VMWare enviroment from 5.5 to 6.5. I am starting with the vCenter Server Appliance (Currently 5.5) and have gone through the 6.5 migration wizard. As the wizard goes to migrate the data and information from the old server appliance to the new I am getting this error. If anyone could help that would be amazing! I'm trying to get this done for Monday and have never done this with VMWare before. Thanks,
willtech Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 (edited) Ermm.. take a look at this: https://www.ispcolohost.com/2017/07/20/migrating-from-vcenter-5-5-windows-to-vcenter-6-5-appliance-woes/ down the page it lists a error that sounds the same as yours. Also a VMware article on the issue: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2127574 Edited February 9, 2018 by willtech
lmrogers Posted February 9, 2018 Author Posted February 9, 2018 Would there be any problems if i setup a new vcenter appliance without copying any of the configuration or settings? What would I then need to configure? Would it still be able to pick up the hosts and clusters and VMs?
maxrebo Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Yeah i had to sst a new one from scratch after one of ours wouldnt upgrade. Just run throught the setup process and then add your hosts back to the new one really easy
lmrogers Posted February 10, 2018 Author Posted February 10, 2018 Do I need to do any configuration with any of the datastores or network cards or will Vcenter pick that up and make it easy to do? I've never really worked with VMWare much before.
