For those with long memories, Redstone 4 was the fourth Mercury mission and the USA's second sub-orbital flight. Gus Grissom was the astronaut. The launch was delayed twice before finally leaving the pad 3 days late. The mission was successful but the spacecraft was lost during the post landing recovery period as a result of premature actuation of the explosively actuated hatch. The capsule sank in 15,000 feet of water shortly after splashdown. Launch was 1961, capsule recovered 1999. Is this a portent?
