Has anyone had their out of warranty battery replaced on this scheme yet? Was it straightforward?

My iPhone 6 is in need, but I couldn’t book it in last night online. I’ve got a call with apple support booked for this afternoon.

Unhelpfully, during BETT the battery meter was playing up too. It registered 100% until the battery died and when recharging showed 100% after about 20 minutes! I went to iOS 11.2.5 last night and my phone is currently showing 86% from a full charge overnight, so hopefully that feature has been knocked on the head!

I had mine changed at the weekend. Did a live chat with apple a few weeks back who ran some diagnostics on the phone. They had to order in a battery and i got an email when it was ready. You then have a week to take your phone in to get it replaced.

At the store i handed my phone over and collected it 90mins later. Seems to be ok so far.

@elsiegee40

Time to go Android and ditch the Apple millstone around your neck...me thinks!

So many good Android phones out there at a third of the price which do so much more....one day people will get it!

When is the next IOS update?

Hmm! might have to change your battery again when that comes around....hehe!

All the very best @elsiegee40

I replaced my own on mine and my other half's iPhone 6, it's really not that difficult to change yourself. I bought the battery from Replacebase (CE approved battery) the battery cost about £10 and took about 30 minutes to change, I now get about 2 days out of the phone without needing to charge it.

I was getting the same symptoms as you before I changed it.

I got asked what version of iOS my phone is on and how often I had to charge my phone. No problems at all. They also asked if the screen was cracked (it isn't) ... apparently if there's bad cracking the screen may have to be replaced at the same time. Presumably broken screens are likely to fall apart completely when they take the phone apart.

The only complication is that the Apple Store in Bluewater is closed for refurbishment so I'm going to London Covent Garden instead which is straightforward for me. I just need to wait to be told the battery is ready and then book an appointment :)

I couldn't be bothered to wait for Apple appointment so went to local dodgy shop to get it done for £30

Battery now lasts 2 days but speed issues since iOS 11 on my iPhone 6 are no better. Thinking about Google Pixel or iPhone 8 Plus

I have to say that the performance of mine isn't improved either. I am probably going to change too. Son has Pixel 2 and is very pleased with it... although it is noticeably spying on his every move; I'dbeing gojng through it turning off location services for a lot of things as I have on my iPhone. Husband has the iPhone 8 and likes it.
