AC2 stuck downloading apps

One of our primaries has a set of ipads and Macbook using AC2 - its been fine until recently I've tried adding a single app to the ipads. AC2 is reading the VPP assignments OK and I can select the app from the list, yet it just hangs at the step of downloading the app itself.

 

All the ipads show up with the spinning wheel, and even leaving it for hours shows no movement in the download progress bar.

 

As AC2 is a flakey piece of donkey droppings at the best of time I'm not sure how to see if its actually downloading - or whether its just incredibly slow? - the internet connection is pretty good so I doubt its that.

Have to checked to make sure the app is still available in VPP?

 

Is the app only 32 bit?

No its a newish app - just ordered through the VPP store. Not 32 bit only either as far as I can tell.

 

It seems to be AC related, as no matter how long I wait all of the ipads show with the 'spinning' icon as if something is still going on.
