Problem adding users in Windows 10

I am having problems adding new users on a Windows 10 PC. I am wanting to add a child but it will not sign in, you put the password in and it just signs them out. I changed it to an admin account and it let me log in but then I couldn't do anything. There was no start menu and no access to the internet. Can anyone help please? Thanks

Forgot to say...this is on a personal PC not on a school network!

Can you add a different user and then logon as that user?

 

Can you delete and re-create the problem user and then logon?

Hi. Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I have tried to add different users but same thing happens. I did have the same problem when adding my daughter but then I made her an administrator and signed her up to a new Microsoft account and that worked, however I am trying to add a family members who are quite young as we want to keep an eye on them and set parental controls etc.I have googled it and not come across a fix as yet but it seems to have happened to lots of people!!

Can you examine the logs to try to identify what is happening when your non-admin users fail to stay logged on?
