Test Environment on Hyper-V

Hi,

 

We've put extended replicents of our primary domain controller & home folder VM & a client PC VM on a Hypervisor. We have then removed replication. If I make an internal switch and connect these 3 VMs to it will the pc connect to the internal dc & also allow me to access my home folders? If not how else would we make a testing environment using replicents on hyper-v?

If you want a fully isolated one you should be using private switch. This limits the traffic only between the VMs. So your VM client could talk to DC/FileServer etc, but not to your computer or live network.

Thanks steve, so setting up a private switch should just work? the vms will all connect to each other not affecting our live network?

Yep, Just make a private switch in hyperv, and then assign that switch to all the VMs and they'll have network connections to eachother
