neonetman Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Morning all, We currently use SC VMM 2008 with the web-based slef service portal to allow our students access to a sandboxed domain and windows client for their coding work. I'm in the process of upgrading our estate to SC 2016, however I can't find the self service portal for this anywhere. Can anyone advise if this is available, if I need to use the SVMM2012 portal, or if I need o stick to upgrading to VMM2012 Cheers!
Steve21 Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 It was removed even in 2012 after SP1 Steve 1
neonetman Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 So was there any replacement for it, or a 3rd party alternative?
Steve21 Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 There's a self service option built into VMM, but this isn't really for people like students anymore, it's still for admins etc just lower admins etc e.g. you wouldn't want students to have it Without a lot of pikeying and "fixes" I couldn't find any way to allow students safe access to any "live" VMs, most people moved across to local VMs on pcs, or a few I know still use network ones but via things like switch ACL lists on private networks etc etc Steve 1
