Wireless connection Drops when reaching excellent strength

got a problem,

head teacher laptop worls fine on the wifi network at school, but at her home when she is using the internet it works on - low/medium/high - but when it reaches escellent the connection just drops off. she repairs the connection and it works fine again. until excellent,

any ideas why this is happening or how resolve this.

First two questions that come to mind

 

1. Are the drivers updated for the wireless card

 

2. Is there a firmware updated on the Router

 

Has this problem just accured or is this a new setup

could also be conflicting with someone elses wireless network...

 

get her to change the channel on her router and see what happens then.

forgot to say her husband also has a laptop setup the same and his works fine every time

Some times my old pcmcia-card stopped working when i had a excellent connection. I had to remove it and cool it down to get it to work again. Could it be the same issue here? Excellent connection makes it to hot to function? That might be the reason it's not dropping out at work, since it's not that "stressed" there.

what brand is the router?

 

who is there internet provider?

 

what type of net conx is it?

 

if she is connecting using b or g then like joanne said other devices in the home will be interfeering i.e wireless home phone, door bells.

what laptop model is it, may be worth while google search see if any one else is having same probs
