Issues with access to Office.com and Gmail today from 3:08pm

We experienced some really odd Internet access issues today from 3:08am.

 

Our Internet access is via RM and we use on-site Smoothwall for transparent filtering.

 

Did anyone else notice any issues?

 

One of the errors (reported by Smoothwall to the browser) was "TLS handshake with server failed, unable to fallback to lower version. https://mail.google.com/mailu/0"

 

When accessing Google with no Smoothwall interception/filtering we got a similar message about TLS version and suggested enabling 1.1,1.2,1.3 in the browser, which it was.

 

Things seem to have settled down now, but just wondered what the problem could have been.

Apologies for bringing up an old thread, but did you ever get to the bottom of this? We are finding the same issue with some sites and has only just started happening to us.
