Amazon Web Services and DPA/GDPR/Use for a UK School

Hi all,

 

We are looking to use a product which stores data on the AWS platform in Ireland (with a backup to the US), it's some accounting information, no student/staff details. Anyone got any experience with AWS and their compliance or point me in the direction of anything to read? A google and edugeek search has turned up nada!

It is not so much that it is AWS that you need to worry about, but the compliance of the accounting product. This is the same for folk using Azure or any other such service.

@pow - Assume you found: https://aws.amazon.com/compliance/. Be interested to know why they haven't moved to London. Also why they are backing up to US, I'm not sure what this offers over backing up to a different availability zone. Personally, you'd backup to Azure (or such) if you were using AWS, least it protects you from your AWS account getting hacked.

I didn't Matt, thank you for that. Currently compliant with the DPA and answered my questions about data storage and usage well, I'm happy now. Thanks for your help!
