It's not open source but if you end up having to look for a paid solution, we've had a fair bit of success with roombookingsystem.co.uk (web hosted). Unlike the others I looked at, this one actually linked in with Cover bookings on SIMS, so cover manager can temporarily close a classroom on SIMS or move a class, and it'll mark it on the room booking system overnight, and automatically email anyone who had their previous booking altered by it. Plus was easier to use than our previous bespoke system so staff uptake was very good (majority of staff could use without training or hand holding). Previous bespoke system we had only linked in with the standard timetable and caused lots of problems tying it up with cover changes. Their pricing was dependant on amount of staff and amount of rooms/resources, plus think it was extra for sims integration. Was worth the price for us as computer suites are heavily booked by teachers. I had a month's free trial as well to test it.

We have used schoolbooking.com for a number of years and allows for SIMS and AD integration. We use it to book rooms, iPads and so on. Its not free but it isn't expensive for the amount of use it gets here
