Chromebook Android Apps

We've got Chromebook for the 6th form (They pay for them via a Parent leasing scheme but we have them in our google management)

Currently Google Play store is disabled for them, but I've had requests if they can have Photoshop on the Chromebooks, as far as I'm aware this is only available via the Play store and it's a support Chromebook model.

Just really wondering if there's anything I need to be wary of allowing them access to it?

Am I opening Pandora's box letting students have access to it, or am I being too over cautious. Just worried about larger choice of VPN tools/Games etc But on the flip side, they'll have a much better number of educational tools at their disposal.

 

Anybody else done it and had any issues?

Like chrome apps you can restrict it so only certain apps can be installed. Just allow Photoshop only.

id be testing the apps first ive found on my personal chromebook quite a lot of apps install but are useless. It assumes its on a phone for example and instead of filling the screen you get a vertical phone sized window in the middle of the chromebooks screen, other apps dont seem to work at all

Ahh thanks, hadn't realised you can do that, thought that was upcoming feature. Perhaps been reading out of date info.
