abillybob Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Hi All So over the half term I tried to update some iPads and add a new app onto them. All our iPads in school are iPad 4th Generation's or lower. After the first 10 iPads had finished I had a look to find that majority of the apps hadn't been transferred but Apple Configurator 2 showed no errors. I found out that apparently Apple have stopped all 32bit architecture apps and are now only running 64bit. Issue is now that I have 10 iPads we can't do anything with and only have some older apps that haven't been updated to 64bit yet. Is there anything that can be done? I have tried my best to look into it but I can't see anything that can be done. I know that Apple Configurator 2 always downloads the latest apps before distributing them across the iPads so I'm wondering if there is a trick so it will just distribute the old version of apps that work? Cheers All!
Brimstone Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 There is no solution, if developers do not update the app it is dead.
mavhc Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Contact the developers, offer them money, or realise that closed source software is a bad idea.
abillybob Posted October 30, 2017 Author Posted October 30, 2017 Cheers guys. Contacted Apple they said the same.
Fazza Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Download a previous version of iOS and downgrade the iPads. The manual download is an IPSW file and if I remember correctly, you use iTunes to install on your device. I've done this a few years back so it's a bit hazy in my mind but I used the OSX Daily website to do it: iOS 10.3.3 Update Released for iPhone, iPad [iPSW Download Links]

dixitarjun Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 This is the reason why I am still on iOS 10.3.3 because many of my favourite app and games are 32bits which I can no longer use upon update. But I am afraid soon I will be forced by Apple to update. Nothing in our hand unless developers make their move for the users.

And today I finally I upgraded to iOS 11.3 and yes as predicted the games no longer is working because of non-32 bits compatibility. iOS 11.3 isn't as bad I thought it anyways.
