I've been asked to install the program "Visual Studio Code" in various ICT suites so that they can program using Visual Basic etc. Has anybody else done this and if so, what are the security considerations I need to think about? Does this program allow access to all parts of the system?

I've found out how to silently install it, not a problem. But I don't want to put it out there without knowing what it could do.

Cheers

As long as you block users from installing extensions and have command prompt disabled, it's essentially a very nice notepad. I find it very useful.

Sorry - I think the only way to run this in school is to do so in a virtual environment. And why wouldn't you do this?

Nah. It's just a very good IDE. So long as kids aren't admin etc install away.
