I've got my KMS server installed on a Windows Server 2016 server running the Volume Activation tools. I've added my keys in both the KMS and AD based activation ways for Office 2016 and Server 2016 through my troubleshooting.

Windows is being activated correctly for both 7, 10 and server OS's.

Office 2016 is being activated successfully.

Office 2013 is not, not is project (though i suspect project may need a separate key?)

Can anyone confirm for me if the office 2016 KMS key should activate previous versions of office? As it won't allow me to install the Office 2013 key as well.

nope office 2016 key just activates 2016 you need an office 2013 key for office 2013

Can an office 2013 and 2016 KMS key not reside on the same server or something? It won't allow me to install my 2013 KMS key into either the AD based method or KMS method :(

Ah turns out I was just being too presumptuous then. Assumed the 2016KMS would be like server 2016 where it activates everything before it. Installed the Office 2013 volume pack and it works. Thanks :)

I made the same assumption. Can you direct me to where I can get this download from so that I can activate Office 2013 on 2016KMS? Google is not being friendly to me today, I can't find anything!!

Thanks

Should be on your volume licencing service center under Office Professional Plus 2013 Key Management Service Host

I've copied the keys exactly as they are in my 2008 R2 KMS Host. These keys were input a few years ago. I can activate Windows 7 clients but not Office 2013.

When I look on VLSC I can only see MAK keys against my current agreement. Previous agreements list KMS keys. Do I need to get a KMS key added to VLSC for my latest agreement?

You'll need the Office 2013 KMS keys, we have them in our agreement

ok thanks. Jsut sent an email to MS to ask for the KMS keys to be added to our current agreement.

Think it was this i used: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=35584

Just installed that on to the same server the 2016 one is running on, added the KMS key and away it went.

I installed the above on the 2016 KMS host and I added the Office 2013 KMS key. Office activates but still shows my old KMS Server as the host. I have deactivated my old KMS host and removed the setting in DNS. Windows activates fine on the new KMS host just Office still shows the old host name.

When I run slmgr.cbs /dlv from a client it shows the KMS Host is my new host.

From the same client if I run cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus it shows "KMS machine name from DNS" as my old host.

I have checked DNS and the old host is not in there under _VLMCS

any ideas?

i think it remembers the old kms host for x time you can i think force a change with slmgr.vbs /skms newserver

I did that command from my workstation but when I try to activate again it still shows up with the old KMS host name.

If I remember right, I think you can do it with VAMT too

Used VAMT too. Comes back as successfully activated but when I look at the KMS Host details it still shows the old host!!!!
