Mapping network drives - Mac on the domain

Hi

 

I have got 3 Macs added to the schools domain and users can log on to them with their Domain name and password, they would now like to be able to see the school network drives when they log in but I can't find anyway of doing this.

 

Can it be done? I know how to map the individual drives and add them into the users logon locally on the Mac but the domain accounts don't show up so I can't do it that way.

 

Any ideas??

We have our Macs run a Global Daemon that runs as root and starts at boot time, then have a launchd Global Agent run at each user login. This script can redirect desktop and documents folders to their Windows network equivilent and mount network folders - you could place shortcuts to the network folders on the desktop, if that would be th easiest place for your users to find them.

 

The script could possibly do with some refinement and someone with a bit more experienc with Macs to tell me if I'm going about things in the right way, but I can probably post it if that would be useful.

I push out login items with profile manager here. Give users access to the folder containing all shares. They can only access the ones they have perms for.
